THE STRONGER CLIMB

Last week I carried two gallons of water — 16 pounds — plus all my gear, six miles deep into the desert.

Rocky terrain.

Rock scrambling.

Elevation up… and just as tough coming down.

Little sleep. Full sun. Heavy pack.

It was hard.

I was quieter than usual — conserving energy. Determined to finish strong. Still noticing the beauty around me: a lone palm surviving against the odds, wildflowers blooming after drought.

Adversity and joy — at the same time.

I’m deep in a major business project right now. Bigger than expected. Slower than planned. Heavier than anticipated.

The desert reminded me:

• Progress isn’t always loud.

• Leadership doesn’t require a title.

• Strength is built under load.

• Capacity expands when you carry more than you thought you could.

Sixteen extra pounds changes the climb.

But it also builds a stronger climber.

Hard and beautiful can coexist.

In the desert.

And in business.
